Four Seasons at Montmartre & Seoripul Parks, Seoul

South of the Han River (한강) in Seocho (서초) district is a neighborhood called Seorae Maeul (서래마을) or the French Village. It’s a quieter part of Seoul where apartment buildings are only mid-rise (about 4 stories), and the nearest subway station is a 15 minute walk. The village’s main road, Seorae-ro, has countless restaurants and cafes. Two parks that I hike frequently, Seoripul Park and Monamartre Park, are also located in the French Village. Monamartre Park is well manicured with a small play area, art accents, and a large open field. There is also a peaceful pond somewhat hidden down a path on the South East side of the park. It connects to the North East part of Seoripul Park via the Nae bridge, which lights up at night. One will see folks of all ages here exercising, picnicking, and even commuting to and from Express Bus Terminal. The South West part of Seouripul park is a small forest up a steep mountain. It takes 10-20 min to hike up to the summit. At the top is Grandfather Rest Area, where a beautiful city/mountain view awaits. One can continue South through the park all the way to Bangbae station. To my readers - this post is to celebrate one year of living in Seoul! Seoripul and Monamartre Parks were the very first places I visited as a newcomer to Seoul, as they are a five minute walk from my home. One year later I now have hundreds of pictures at these parks through all four seasons. Here's to hopefully many more years and many more 사진들 (photos) in South Korea! 건배! Cheers!
